Lately I seem to have a propensity to lose, well, everything. This week so far I have misplaced my: wallet, slider to my camelback, water bottle, and my keys. If I have misplaced anything else I have not noticed it because I have not needed it but I'm sure I'll find out as soon as a need arrives for the said item.
As I was searching for my keys Emily, who was supposed to be napping, was watching my movements with much interest. I am sharing her room at the moment and so I was certain that my keys had been misplaced somewhere at the end of my bed. Finally I asked Emily if she wanted to do something productive. To which she replied with much glee, "Yes!"
I asked if she would pray for me to find my keys. Although I had prayed earlier my keys were still in hiding. Emily folded her hands and closed her eyes and prayed, "Thank you Jesus for finding Erin's keys. Amen"
I was struck by the faith that was in this prayer. It was so simple. There was no begging or pleading to help me find my keys; just a simple, "thank you." The prayer was looking forward to the time when Jesus would show me exactly where my keys were. It was filled with faith that Jesus already knew I was searching for my keys and that we would find them. I think it is important that we have the faith that God will answer our prayers and that He already has.
Note: I have still have yet to find my keys but I know that they will be found
