A Summer Reflection Part 3

I was walking down the sidewalk of a strip of businesses. I saw a young girl sitting in front of a grocery store. As I neared her I heard a sniffle and wondered if she had been crying. I sat down beside her and introduced myself. I showed her Peace Above the Storm. She looked through it. I asked her if she had been crying and if everything was alright. She said that it was just allergies. I didn't see any signs of tears so I didn't press the issue.

The young woman didn't have any money so I showed her the Happiness for Life. When she saw the cover she again repeated that she didn't have any money. I said that this book was for any small donation. She rummaged through her purse looking for something to give.

She began to tell me that this book would help her. That day she was going to turn herself in. I didn't get all the details but I know that it had something to do with money. She had been out for a few weeks on bail and today she was turning herself in to go back to jail.

That morning she had gotten in an argument with her mother who lives over an hour away. She was dropped off that morning at the police station where they had turned her away. The police told her that she had to wait until the set time that she was supposed to come. She had nothing to do all day. As she told me this story she stood up and began to cry.

There are so many people that hurt and broken. I'm so glad for that Happiness for Life. I met so many people this summer who need Jesus to carry them through the storms they are going through.
