A Summer Reflection Part 4

There are many stories that begin with a person searching for God. The person is tired of living life the way they have always lived and they want to know if God exists. They pray and ask God to reveal Himself. God answers their prayer in an extraordinary way; He sends someone to the seeker's door.

This is one of those stories...

An eight foot fence surrounded the two small houses that stood before me; one parallel to my left, and the other perpendicular. The "lawn" was completely void of grass and contained only dust. I sighed, not really wanting to be there. Setting feelings aside I prayed and walked into the "compound."

A woman answered the door. She was probably in her 50's and rather plump. I introduced myself and handed her a 7 Secrets cookbook. Throughout the course of our conversation I found out that she had Diabetes so she was on a strict diet. I explained that the book would help with her Diabetes. Then the real issue came up; she had no money.

During this time the woman's sister was standing beside her and listening to the conversation. She took the cookbook and began to flip through it. It was during this time she saw the Happiness for Life in my hand. She grabbed the Happiness for Life and exclaimed that it would be perfect for her brother who was in prison. I didn't want to give up that quickly so I showed her Peace Above the Storm, which is the same thing, Steps to Christ, and I showed her Man of Peace, which is Desire of Ages. She liked these books but she too did not have any money.

At this point I was ready to tell her that the Happiness for Life was a small donation another sister spoke up from the couch saying that she wanted to look at the books that I had.She looked at them and said that they were beautiful books and that she wished that she had money to get them. She told me that she did not have a job at the moment because she was going through drug rehab. Though she had not done drugs recently the were still in her system and she would test positive for drugs. It was impossible for her to get a job at the moment. She had just started to go back to church and really wanted to turn her life around. In fact all three woman had just started going back to church. Each of them attended a different church but they each saw their need for Jesus.

Though they couldn't get a book they wanted personal Bible studies and they wanted to study together. The sister going through drug rehab wanted to get involved with as much as she could in order to not return to her former lifestyle. The second sister still wanted the book for her brother in prison so she went back to her room to find two dollars for the book. When she returned she told me that that morning God would help them to understand the Bible better.
