70% Organic

The other day I was reading a granola bar package and it was proclaiming that it was 70% organic. That sounds nice but if the bar has some parts of it that are organic and some parts of it that aren't then the bar is not in fact organic. In order for the bar to be called organic it would have to be 100% organic.

I got to thinking about Christianity and 70%. If we are 70% Christian, are we Christian? It sounds like a perfect recipe for the Laodicean church. I'm doing great 70% of the time I'm following God I mean that is over 50% so it has got to count for something. That doesn't work. God says in Revelation when talking to the Laodicean church that being lukewarm is like vomit. I'm coming to realize that walking with God is not some leisurely stroll in the park but  a hike up a mountain.  It is strenuous at times but it is so worth the effort. There are times when we just want to give up. The standards that God has set for us are so contrary to the world that if we are not surrounding ourselves with godly people the battle seems insurmountable. Some days it feels like it would be easier to give up and go along with what the world is doing. I'm so thankful for the people that God has put in my life that have encouraged me to stand for God and not to give in. I'm so thankful for God who has promised to never leave me nor forsake me.

Thanks for sharing, Erin. I've been seeing that lately, too, especially in what I've been reading. But I've also been coming to another conclusion. At some point the godly people surrounding us will be inaccessible. At some point we may be standing alone. We need to be in so deep with God that even if we're all alone in our various places or circumstances, we will still stand in the battle.

That is true that we do need to come to the point of standing alone. :)
